Return of the Desjardins Dragons... face-to-face!

Thetford Mines, November 19, 2021 - Desjardins Dragons will be back in person for 2022! Resulting from Le Goût d'entreprendre week, the initiative of the Société de développement économique de la région de Thetford (SDE) will be in its 10th edition.

Just like in the well-known TV show, it is possible to present your entrepreneurial project and win a bursary! This year, $12,000 is available for the teams thanks to Desjardins, which has been funding student projects since the first edition. The amounts awarded to the teams will be revealed at the Gala to be held at the Polyvalente de Disraeli on January 26, 2022. The deadline for registration is December 16, 2021.

Youth from high schools at the Centre de services scolaire des Appalaches, including Le Tremplin, A.S. Johnson Memorial High School and the Thetford Cegep can present projects to a panel of local Dragons. Grants are awarded on an application basis up to a maximum of 75% of the total cost of a project.

Registrations are made with Sophie St-Cyr at or at 418-335-0802 ext. 201. It is also possible to address the various officials in the participating educational institutions.

Here are the Dragons who will be part of the 2022 panel: Frédéric Paré from E'Mind Tek; Marianne Baril from Pépinière Ancestrale; Serge Dubois from Appalaches Nature. In addition, this will be their first experience as Dragons: Jennifer Poiré from Groupe Castech-Plessitech and Christian Poulin, representative of Desjardins.

A taste for entrepreneurship in the Thetford region
For the past ten years, the Société de développement économique de la région de Thetford (SDE) has been inviting young people from the Appalaches Regional County Municipality to meet entrepreneurs in class to learn more about their entrepreneurial journey. Students also visit local businesses to learn about the trades and attend a keynote speaker's presentation to discover inspiring stories. In addition, the students can live a concrete entrepreneurial experience thanks to the "Desjardins Dragons" program.
