Most loans were provided to assist business succession projects. This has helped to maintain more than 70 jobs and create five new jobs in the Thetford region.

THETFORD MINES, NOVEMBER 10, 2021. The Société de développement économique de la région de Thetford (SDE) is pleased to announce that eight projects have been funded through the Local Investment Fund (FLI) during 2021. In total, nearly $7M in investments were generated thanks to loans totalling $250,000. Most loans were provided to assist business succession projects. This has helped to maintain more than 70 jobs and create five new jobs in the Thetford region.

“The Local Investment Fund (FLI) is one of the financing tools of the Société de développement économique de la région de Thetford (SDE), an organization that provides a range of services to support and stimulate the creation and development of businesses, both in terms of technical assistance and financial assistance. The FLI is intended for a company in the start-up, expansion, acquisition, or succession phase. Financial assistance, in the form of a loan, can reach $100,000 per business “, explains Karine Poirier, Economic Development Commissioner at the SDE Thetford region.

The businesses that received loans in 2021 are as follows:

L'Intermède du Lac: with the purchase of the Auberge La Chanterelle, now called Auberge L'Intermède du Lac, Véronic Béliveau and Érick Roy offer to the population of the southern sector the services of lodging, restaurants, ready-to-eat meals, a gourmet store, a diary bar and a worker's store.

Lussier & Vachon Evaluations: Vickie Lussier, a Designated Appraiser Residential, has purchased the business of Nancy Vachon, an Appraiser. The company offers professional appraisal services for residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural properties.

Cycles Vallières : Dominic Jacques will continue the activities of the business, which has been selling and repairing bikes for 35 years. He will enhance the running niche and will now operate 12 months a year, to meet the needs of its customers.

Préfab Gosselin ltée : A family business for over 80 years, Préfab Gosselin will evolve under the direction of Alexandre Labbé and Louis-Pier Létourneau. The company specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of precast concrete products.

Ferme Merthy (2014) inc.: Patricia Rodrigue joins the diary production company in Saint-Jean-de-Brébeuf. The succession project coincides with the construction of a new milking complex and the purchase of additional quotas.

Pâtisserie St-Noël: Well known for its pies and lasagna, the former owners of Pâtisserie St-Noël are passing the torch to Marc-Antoine Turmel. The latter intends to continue the constant progression of the business and offer a variety of quality products to his customers.

Les Entreprises M. Rouleau inc.: The company has acquired Atelier Paul Gagnon in East Broughton. Michael Rouleau plans to combine his operations with those of Mr. Gagnon, offering machining, welding, repair, and fabrication services. He works with different materials and offers a custom and mobile service when needed and specializes in the manufacture and sale of maple syrup products and equipment.
