Appointment of Mr. Daniel Lapointe to the position of technical advisor for sustainable construction and project manager at the SDE

Mr. Lapointe's main mandate will be to accompany manufacturing companies, experts and various stakeholders related to the construction sector in the Appalaches Regional County Municipality in the shift to sustainable construction.

THETFORD MINES, SEPTEMBER 29, 2021. Mrs. Vicky Lachance, Director of Business Services at the Société de développement économique de la région de Thetford (SDE), is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Daniel Lapointe, engineer, as Technical Advisor for Sustainable Construction and Project Manager. Mr. Lapointe has been with the SDE Thetford region since August 30th.

Sustainable construction consists of limiting the impact of buildings on the environment, while guaranteeing superior quality in terms of aesthetics, durability, and resistance. It considers the entire life cycle of the works, from the choice of initial products to their demolition and recycling. Sustainable construction means, among other things, using recyclable materials to preserve natural resources, optimizing the thermal inertia of buildings, and integrating renewable energy sources into the building design.

Mr. Lapointe's main mandate will be to accompany manufacturing companies, experts and various stakeholders related to the construction sector in the Appalaches Regional County Municipality in the shift to sustainable construction. His role will be o raise awareness, inform, organize training, and accompany the business ecosystem and professionals of the Appalaches Regional County Municipality with the goal of meeting the needs of developers of sustainable construction projects with a low environmental footprint on the local, national, and international markets. He will also introduce the various notions of sustainable development and eco-construction in the different structuring projects on the territory of the Appalaches Regional County Municipality.

Mr. Lapointe holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Polytechnique Montreal, an engineering university, and has more than 30 years experience as a civil engineer and in project management. Until recently, he was responsible for al activities of SNC-Lavalin's Thetford Mines office. He has expertise in all areas of consulting engineering in planning, estimating, engineering and quality control in the fields of municipal and civil engineering, environment, and building. Very involved for years, he actively participates in the development of the region through various implications.
